Standard Features of
Arctic Duty Motors
All motors
- are totally enclosed
fan cooled (TEFC) or explosion-proof three-phase AC induction motors
- are designed for
ambient temperatures reaching as low as –70°F
- space heaters are
flexible silicone rubber with low watt density and excellent moisture
resistance and
thermal stability over wide temperature ranges
- inner bearing
ring-shaft fit and outer bearing ring-bracket fit are determined to ensure
that the internal
ball clearance is sufficient through the temperature range involved
- have grease with a
synthetic lubricant base and nonsoap thickener with higher penetration for
low temperature operation
- have silicone rubber
gaskets elastomers that remain resilient and functional at -70°F
- have phenolic and
metallic fans which retain their tensile strengths and are designed for
temperatures as low as
-70°F
- have SAE grade 5 bolts
- Class ‘F’ silicone
leads for operation at -70°C
- high strength shaft,
AISI 4140
Explosion Proof Motors
- sealants are used where
motor lead wires pass through frame openings, this two part polyurethane
resin system is used to resist internal explosive forces and to retain its
physical properties
at reduced temperatures
- increased cast iron
tensile strengths for most frames, conduit boxes, and end bells
