Standard Features of
Potash Duty Motors
- mechanical parts are
made of cast iron as a standard or when aluminum parts are prohibited
(except for aluminum die cast
rotors)
- all terminal boxes
shall be cast iron (unless otherwise specified) diagonally split with
.18" wall thickness
- Red linatex gaskets are
to be used between motor frame and box base and on diagonal
split of box halves
- all gasketing material
is red linatex or armabond rubber
- brackets and bearing
caps are equipped with grease retaining grooves
- all ball bearings on
T-line motors shall be doubled shielded, larger motors use standard bearings
- Alemite buttonhead
fittings are provided on all motors
- where shafts protrude
from the enclosure, flingers are used and made of a labyrinth type of
silicon bronze
- stator bore, copper bar
rotors, and the shaft between bearing cap fits are painted with epoxy
paint
- brackets, bearing caps,
conduit boxes, and hoods shall be painted with Carboline epoxy paint except
for the machined mating surfaces
- all exterior surfaces
except the shaft extension and machined surfaces shall be painted with
Carboline epoxy paint
- external fans on TEFC
motors shall be silicon bronze or aluminum bronze
- external fans on TEAAC
motors are fabricated with .18" minimum thickness steel and all fans
are painted with
epoxy paint
- all motors have class F
insulation
- all random wound motors
receive a minimum of 3 dips of our standard varnish
- all form wound motors
to receive 3 VPI treatments in epoxy resin and one coat of insulating
varnish
- water-to-air heat
exchangers have copper fins
- air-to-air heat
exchanger tubes are stainless steel
- all machined and
unpainted surfaces which are exposed either in transit or storage are given
a coat of rust
preventative
- hardware including
street-elbow-breather drains and lubrication fittings are galvanized,
equivalent plated or made
from brass or stainless steel
- external hoods on TEFC
motors are cast iron or fiberglass
