Totally Enclosed Air to Air Cooled (TEAAC) A totally enclosed air-to-air cooled machine is enclosed to prevent the free exchange of air between the inside and the outside of the enclosure, but not sufficiently enclosed as to be termed airtight. Circulating the internal air through a heat exchanger cools this motor. This air in turn is cooled by circulating external air through the tubes of the heat exchanger and is circulated by internal fans mounted integrally with the rotor. On high speed motors a separately driven blower is mounted external to the motor on the motor shaft to blow external air through the heat exchanger. On lower speed motors the external blower is mounted on the back of the heat exchanger and is driven by a separate small motor -- the motor voltages offered are 220, 480, or 575V or as specified by the customer.
A totally enclosed water-to-air cooled motor is enclosed to prevent the free exchange of air between the inside and the outside of the enclosure, but not sufficiently enclosed to be termed airtight. Circulating the internal machine air around a heat exchanger, which contains circulating water, cools this motor. The machine contains internal blowers mounted as part of the rotor. The standard heat exchanger supplied is mounted on top of the frame (modular concept). The standard heat exchanger tubes are copper. As an option, coupro nickel (90% copper, 10% nickel) is also available. The tube sheets and headers are of carbon steel and the fins are aluminum. The cooler is designed for use with 30°C maximum cooling water at a pressure not exceeding 100 psig. (Test at 125) with a nominal fouling factor of 0.001. Also, as a standard, the motor comes with a temperature controller that is used to prevent condensation inside the motor. Leak detectors are available as an option.
This motor has the advantage of being unaffected by dirt and rain, but a source of clean air and an auxiliary blower must be provided. This machine is provided with flanges for connections of ductwork. |
