History is the key to our success... 1886 - Westinghouse Electric Corporation was incorporated in the United States, commencing operations with over 200 employees. 1888 - Westinghouse builds the first practical a-c electric induction motor. 1894- Westinghouse builds the first practical polyphase induction motors, providing convenient power to drive industrial machines. 1897 - First Westinghouse manufacturing operation outside of the United Sates was established in Hamilton, Ontario. 1905 - A second Westinghouse plant is constructed in Hamilton, the early role of this facility was the manufacture of motors and generators of less than 50 horsepower. 1912 - Westinghouse Sales offices opened in Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver. 1923 - Expansion of Westinghouse apparatus repair facilities in Montreal, Winnipeg and Calgary 1934 - A complete line of induction motors for all classes of industrial services was developed by the Westinghouse Motor Division. 1952 - A large Westinghouse manufacturing complex for electric motors, naval auxiliary turbines, and power circuit breakers was completed on Beach Road in Hamilton. 1995 - Westinghouse's Motor manufacturing divisions are sold. At this time Elettra Technology is formed by previous motor division executives and ETI obtains licensing agreements to manufacture the complete line of Westinghouse motors. 1996 - ETI, comprised solely of Westinghouse employees, begins manufacturing motors at its Parkdale Avenue facility in Hamilton Ontario. 2001 - ETI is selected by Siemens Westinghouse to supply renewal parts for previously built Westinghouse motors. 2002 - ETI is registered to ISO 9001:2000 quality system.
